Digital Badges, initially created by the Mozilla Foundation, are digital evidence used to recognize learning, know-how, achievements, skills or attitudes, adding value to the curriculum, and/or as a pedagogical tool to motivate students. in educational processes, with a visual and transparent form of their achievements in the training process.

Badges provide a flexible way to recognize learning wherever it takes place, in and out of formal education and the workplace.

They can be used to certify participation in an event or training, as well as informally, as part of the strategy of a curricular unit, as part of a Gamification proposal. They emerged as a tool that can convey hands-on learning not captured by traditional assessments.

Badges and certificates issued through Certify are based on the Open Badges standard, which means they can be read outside of our system - those who earn digital badges are part of a global network.

Anatomy of a badge

A badge consists of its image and the metadata embedded in it (encrypted): name of the badge; description; receiving criteria; issuer; recipient; issue date; expiration date; evidence (URL); tags (labels).

Thus, each badge issued is unique, personal and verifiable.

By adopting Digital Badges, you are joining thousands of organizations around the world who support a global standard for verifiable and interoperable digital credentials, enabling people to capture and share the rich image of who they are.
